Record breaking jury verdict for the largest Race Discrimination case in US history ($137,000,000)

Owen Diaz brought a race harassment case against Tesla, Inc. under the Civil Rights Act of 1866 because he was forced to endure widespread use of the N-word and other racist conduct. A Jury has found that from 2015 to 2016, Mr. Diaz was subjected to severe and pervasive racial harassment. He was called the N-word over sixty times by supervisors and he was told to “go back to Africa.”

One supervisor left a picaninny drawing on some recycled cardboard near the elevators where Mr. Diaz would find it. Mr. Diaz saw racist graffiti in multiple bathrooms throughout Tesla’s Fremont, CA factory.

Any time I have an employment law question, she is the first person I call and always is able to meet my needs. I never hesitate to refer her new clients. When my fiancee, family, or friends need employment advice, she is the first person I send them to.”

“The head/founding attorney of the law group is Lawrence A. Organ and I can’t say enough good about him. I wish I could give the law group 10 Stars! My son needed a civil rights attorney so I did a google search and after watching Lawrence’s video, we were so impressed, my son sent an email describing the events that led to his termination, and received a fast reply from Cory, asking my son to make an appointment to come in, which he did. My son met with 2 attorneys, they went over everything, asked many questions, they didn’t rush us and spent over an hour with us. They discussed my son’s employment problems and took on his case. One day I was talking to my friend who is a judge in civil court, when I mentioned Lawrence, she told me that Lawrence was in her court and how impressed she was with how hard he fought for his client. If you have gotten this far on my review, I suggest you go into their website and watch the videos where Lawrence talks about why he became a civil rights attorney. Navruz was our attorney, she was great! Her communication skills were over the top…She emailed with questions and gave updates. She was compassionate and caring yet very professional. She was usually available to speak over the phone, she was prompt in returning calls. For the most part everything was handled through emails, perfect for us because nothing was lost in translation. We loved emails, not necessary to tie up time on the phone, or traveling into the office. On the day we went to mediation Navruz showed up with Lawrence whom we never met, he knew all about my son’s case, not just one attorney handles a case, they all sit at the table and discuss each case. Navruz and Lawrence fought hard, it was actually fun watching them make points and arguments. My son WON! He was very pleased with his settlement and without going to court. We would recommend Navruz and Lawrence to anyone in need of representation. Thank you Lawrence and Navruz, we applaud you for a job well done!”

Workplace Retaliation

Have you been impacted by retaliation in the workplace? Marin work retaliation attorneys can investigate the misconduct.

Retaliation occurs when an employer takes an adverse action, such as termination, a reduction in pay or hours, or even sudden micromanagement, as a direct result of an employee’s engagement in protected activities. These protected activities include filing complaints, speaking out against discrimination, and exercising legal rights.

If you’ve been harmed by workplace retaliation, don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re powerless to act. Our work retaliation attorneys have abundant experience pushing back against employer retaliation, and we’ve assisted countless workers who have been in similar situations.

Disability Rights

State and federal laws protect the rights of those with mental and physical disabilities. However, despite knowing the disability law in Marin, some employers still treat those with disabilities differently. They might fail to make reasonable accommodations or refuse to hire anyone with a disability.

If you’ve faced disability discrimination as an employee or job candidate, contact our Marin disability rights attorneys. Employers should be held accountable for discriminatory practices, and employees deserve to be compensated for having their rights violated.

Family and Medical Leave Rights

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law that protects an employee’s job if they must take time off to address a personal or family medical condition. If you’re a Marin resident, you’re protected by both the Family Medical Leave Act and Marin Family Rights Act.

Not all employees understand their FMLA rights, and some employers try to take advantage of that fact. If you’ve lost your job after taking protected leave or your employer is otherwise encroaching on your FMLA rights, consult a Family Medical Leave Act attorney right away.
